New Browser Exploit Targets Unpatched Systems

Browser Exploit Warning

Cybersecurity experts have discovered a **dangerous browser exploit** actively targeting unpatched systems in **Pakistan**. The vulnerability allows attackers to execute remote code simply by tricking users into visiting specially crafted malicious websites. Most affected systems were found to be running outdated versions of Chromium-based browsers without recent security updates.

The exploit was first observed affecting government and academic institutions in Karachi and Lahore, where multiple users reported abnormal system behavior and unauthorized access attempts. According to a report from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the exploit is being distributed through phishing emails containing shortened links or embedded JavaScript payloads.

Officials have urged all users to immediately update their browsers and disable JavaScript on unknown websites as a temporary safeguard. In addition, Pakistan’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is coordinating with ISPs to block domains linked to the exploit’s distribution. The attack highlights the urgent need for better patch management practices in public and private sector IT systems across the country.
